Well it's a very very late update for my Bangkok Trip on April, guess I'm getting more lazy. So, I'll just go by fast and easy, gonna have a nice afternoon nap later on, haha.
18th April 2014 - Departure.
Reached LCCT airport and having a simple breakfast - Old Town White Coffee.
Actually I forgot what time was the flight but I reached Don Mueang International Airport around 13:00. I guess it took 2 hours and half to reach there. So, we headed straight to taxi service counter in airport once we boarded to get a van to hotel since we have 9 person and a baby here. It took 1 hour to Novotel Pratunam from airport and it costs 1000 baht. We preferred highway anyway we have to pay extra 100 baht for the toll fees but it took only half an hour to reach Pratunam. By the way, we took a tour package for the next day which costs 7500 baht at the same time.
So, Pratunam is a big city I guess. The traffic is quite crowded. You can see quite lots of skyscrapers. Here is the Novotel in Pratunam. Free wi-fi is provided and the welcome drinks is very nice!
Since we were tired after the flight so we don't visit any places yet. Just lingered around at Platinum shopping mall nearby our hotel. I mean it's very near, you can just go by walking. There's Starbucks and McDonalds and 7-11 nearby so it's really convenient. We had dinner nearby the hotel also, then after some rest we went for the massage. It's quite cheap for whole body massage, only 350 baht per person for 2 hours.
19th April 2014 - Bangkok City.
After having breakfast at Starbucks, we went to floating market. They sell almost everything like food and beverage, fruits, souvenirs etc. But it's quite expensive so we decided to buy souvenirs on the next day when we go to Chatuchak Market. By the way, the foods sold here it's very delicious! It's seemed like a floating village to me because there are housing on the both river side and they even have a parking lot for their boats. It's quite interesting by just looking at their house design.
After having lunch, we headed to train market just for awhile. Then I saw something that Mr.T likes - protein. It's deep-fried bugs! All kind of bugs and even little frog. Oh well we just bought it for fun. I don't have any intention to eat it but when I took one of them to take photo, I thought it might be delicious since it's very crunchy and I want to try it but...ugh forget about it. I don't try anything and I'm a little bit of regret now, haha. What did we come here for? To see the train and the market of course. Have you ever wonder how a train can pass through a market or how a market can "survive" since it located right beside the railway track? The hawkers just keep all their things in when the train pass through then right after the train left, they put their things back and continue their business like nothing happened.
After shower and some rest at hotel, we moved on to Chinatown. The foods are really delicious here! Especially the banana pancake and something like yao cha guai with pandan jam, and it's not expensive at all. Only 40 baht for banana pancake and 60 baht for the yao cha guai. Even the durian sells only 35 baht per kg, taste really sweet!
It's night time and it's time to have some fun! What is the first thing popped out in your mind when you think of Thailand? Ladyboy! We went to Asiatique and straight away headed to Calypso Theater to watch the ladyboy show. Oh by the way, the tickets are included in the tour package that we purchased yesterday. The interior design looks really luxurious. We really enjoyed the show because it's really funny and their performances includes the cultural from Japan, Korean, China etc. Their costumes are beautiful and diversified. You can take photos with any of them after the shows and I think HE is really beautiful!
20th April 2014 - Shopping Day.
Nothing more for today, just Shop 'til Drop! A place that must visit when we come to Thailand. It's Chatuchak Market! The place that sell almost everything and very very cheap. It takes a whole day in here and you better get a map of the market before you go so that you won't get lost, haha.
It's such a wonderful family trip but I'm a bit of sad since Mr.T can't join us. But anyway I' gaining experiences here and I believe someday we can go together and have another nice trip too. We still have a very long way to go, that is FOREVER.
